Career WeekDuring Career Week, we have several professionals, college representatives, and various employees within our community come in and speak to our students. Displays are set up in the gym and students grades 6-8 are given time to explore everything we have to offer. If you are interested in volunteering during career week, we would love to have you. Please contact Mrs. Kappenman in the counselor's office.

Choices Explorer/ICAP Eighth grade students are guided through a career exploratory program online every year. They create a portfolio, and are then sent through various quizzes and career interest surveys. Once they have completed their explorer program, their answers are saved in their online portfolio. Next they are given computer generated careers that best fit their personalities. Students can click on various careers that interest them to see salary, education needed, interview process, a day in the life, etc. Once they have researched various careers that peek their interest, they then complete an ICAP. An ICAP is a four year plan for high school where they plan each class they need for graduation. |
Get2College and High School VisitEach year our eighth graders are guided on a tour of the high school to prepare for the following year. They are allowed to ask questions and encouraged to get excited about what's to come. We've also had the privilege to have professionals from an organization called Get2College come and speak to them as well about the importance of keeping their grades up and opportunities that will present as they prepare for graduation. For more info about this group, visit get2college.org. Also, our teachers display their colleges in the hallway to get the students to ask questions and begin to think about the future!
